Kungfu and Xing Yi with Master Ching Yin Lee – Recap
What a blast! It was great to have Master Lee visit and share with us a wealth of knowledge. As I’ve mentioned before, we have the exact same passion for Chinese martial arts in their fullest spectrum (both traditional and modern Kungfu for Self-defense and Sport as well as an appreciation and passion for internal arts (Tai Chi and Qi Gong, etc.) as well. However, our understanding and approach is quite different. It’s always illuminating and thought provoking to hear alternative perspectives. Additionally, we were paid many compliments. Afterward, Master Lee continually praised our students for their genuine enthusiasm and passion for training and learning.

KUNGFU SASH TEST Recap
Great job CMAA ninjas! So proud of their hard work and progress!
Afterward several parents came up to express how happy they are to see their children so motivated to work hard, proud of themselves for being a class leader, developing greater self confidence and overcoming anxiety to perform in front of a group... Splits, flips and weapons are cool but it’s not just the martial arts skills but the life lessons we learn along the way which make it truly meaningful. Jiayou! 加油！
Kungfu Kickboxing: Sanda
Kungfu fighter! Awesome single leg defense and nice backflip. This is the CMAA style!
Beautiful takedowns in Chinese Kickboxing!
What’s your purpose? Your reason for being? Ikigai!
Most people will say “Do what you love and you’ll never work a day in your life” or “If money didn’t matter, what would you do? That is what you should be doing.” That’s a nice thought, but it can obviously be a little more complicated than that. How can we truly engage in meaningful work? How can we translate our passions to professions? I recently came across a concept that helped me better understand this- a Japanese concept called “Ikigai”. It’s still relatively simple but considers a few other aspects when considering ones purpose for being.
