Monthly Newsletter - February 2021

Dear CMAA Family and Friends,
亲爱的朋友们,

Coming up on a year since we first began fighting COVID.  I am proud to say we are fighting stronger than ever.  Still ZERO cases of COVID at CMAA.  Its been a challenge to adjust to remote classes, its been a challenge to teach so many privates, its been a challenge to wear masks, its been a challenge for many of us and for many reasons.  I couldn’t be more proud to say we have risen to that challenge and will continue to do so until we WIN.  Check out this months newsletter for the latest at CMAA!

亲爱的朋友们,希望大家一切安好!从讲座,比赛,表演以及其他精彩活动,每一项您都不容错过!。请看以下详细信息!

Feb. Class Schedule

To get the most updated version of our current class schedule please visit our live calendar!

https://martialartsalbany.sites.zenplanner.com/calendar.cfm

To ensure the safety of all students, we have revised our group class schedule to reduce the time of classes each day and to ensure there is a break between the classes. This is to minimize any potential overlap/contact among students and allow time for necessary clean-up between classes.

Classes will be offered in 2 different types:

1.Classes offered On Site w/ Online option (ex. Tai Chi) .

2. Classes On Site (ex. Kungfu, Tai Chi, Sanda Kickboxing, and Combatives).

Please note onsite classes require registration and have a 12-14 person maximum. Classes on ZOOM do not require registration and there is no capacity limit.

For ZOOM classes Tai Chi sign in information will remain the same:

What is Qi Gong?

Taoist master explains power of Qi and philosophy. Enjoy!

Kyokushin and Wushu Sanda
Kyokushin: The Strongest Karate. Anyone who knows me knows I love all styles. However there are a few in particular that are close to my heart. Kyokushin was the style I first started with at age 5 and the style I’ve since found a renewed passion for under the guidance of a great instructor Shihan Sean Schenker.  It’s a beautiful blend of tradition and sport. You combine philosophy, deep breathing, and kata with hardcore physical conditioning and full contact fighting and you get something amazing, you get the Ultimate Truth!

In my opinion Sanda is to Kungfu what Kyokushin is to Karate. The only thing better than training either of these two styles would be training both.  Stay tuned for more info!

Music

When practicing Tai Chi and Qigong at CMAA we typically play music.  Sometimes this music is specific to a routine, other times it can be just general background for a more relaxing ambiance.  I find benefit in practicing to music.  Sometimes I will play nature sounds, running water or birds as well.  However, I choose not to play music through ZOOM.  For those of you taking classes on ZOOM here a few selections from YouTube you can play from a computer/laptop while we practice.  Of course if you have another method of playing music that’s great.  I just wanted to share a few links of things you may like to have for home practice!  Enjoy!
